A land exchange for sustainable grazing under herd expansion

Improving dairy farming through strategic land exchange and pasture management

or

Detail description

Florian Tanguy manages a 140-hectare family farm, increasing his dairy herd from 57 to 80 cows while maintaining a grazing system. To support this growth, he implemented a land exchange with neighbours, securing 7 hectares directly accessible to the milking site and transferring 11 hectares in total. This enabled the replacement of a mobile milking parlor with a fixed system, improving efficiency and working conditions. The farm maintains high milk yield (7,200 litres per cow), low feed costs (under €70 per 1,000 litres), and keeps the maize silo closed for over four months. Florian emphasizes the value of neighbourly collaboration in farm succession and land reorganisation.
