Diversification and Know-How for Dry Grassland Management

Diversifying strategies for sustainable grassland management on a dry sandy site in Lüneburg Heath

or

Detail description

Hof Tangsehl is an organic mixed farm in Northern Germany, managing 110 hectares of grassland and 50 hectares of arable land near the Lüneburg Heath. Facing challenges from sandy soil and limited water availability, the farm employs quick livestock rotation to enhance soil fertility and maintain grassland productivity. It uses a mobile milking parlour and direct marketing to ensure independence from market fluctuations. The farm exemplifies sustainable land management on dry, sandy sites through diversified practices and local know-how.
