AMS and rotational grazing system on 130-hectare dairy farm in Northwest Lower Saxony

Weidehaltung und automatisierte Melkung in ökologischem Milchviehbetrieb mit Rotationsweide-Management und nachhaltiger Infrastruktur

or

Detail description

Jörg Schwarting's 130-hectare dairy farm in northwestern Germany, with 150 cows, transitioned to organic farming in 2022. The farm uses rotational grazing and an automated milking system (AMS) with selection gates to optimize workflow and milk yield. Cows graze on fully enclosed pastures with access to fresh water via mobile drinkers. A 300-meter concrete path connects the pasture to the milking point. The system supports flexible management, with pastures divided into two blocks based on milk yield and grazing time, improving animal welfare and operational efficiency.
