Control of organic matter absence after cleaning for broiler health

Control of organic matter absence post-cleaning via visual and microbiological verification

or

Detail description

Control of organic matter after cleaning is critical to reducing microbial pressure between broiler batches and supporting gut health. The practice uses visual inspection via the Certi’ferme Pro digital checklist during the sanitary break, covering internal (manure removal, base and airlock disinfection) and external areas (silos, rendering tank, larvicide). For minor Salmonella contamination, an 11-point cleanliness rating and paper towel test at 24 barn points ensure hygiene compliance, with low-scoring areas re-cleaned. Annual microbiological testing uses contact plates at 10 points (walls, feeders, drinkers, foundations, locks), with CFU counts and Salmonella swab tests before slaughter. These steps verify cleaning effectiveness, prevent early microbial challenges, support healthy microbiota, and improve feed conversion and batch performance.
