Smart Bedding Solution: Robots & Heating for Active Chickens
Smart bedding system with robotic litter loosening and underfloor heating for improved chicken welfare and efficiency
or
Detail description
Managing chicken bedding is simplified through a robotic litter-loosening system and underfloor heating in a 100 m x 22 m insulated barn. The system maintains optimal climate with automated monitoring of temperature, humidity, and CO₂, using a heat exchanger, ceiling fans, and tunnel ventilation. Designed for 259,000 birds annually, it features 3.5 m ceilings, 3.2% natural light, and roller blinds to prevent cannibalism. Underfloor heating at 28°C and a robot operating in three phases from day 4 to 41 promote bird activity, reduce footpad and joint injuries, and improve growth and slaughter line outcomes. The robot uses laser deterrents and operates on a 12-hour cycle with 1.5-hour charging.
