Water Hygiene: Cleaning Waterlines Between Broiler Flock Cycles

Cleaning and disinfecting waterlines between flocks prevents biofilm formation and maintains water quality in Finnish broiler production.

Detail description

Water hygiene in Finnish broiler production: regular cleaning and disinfection of water lines between flocks prevents biofilm formation, maintains water quality, and reduces disease risk. Groundwater quality is strictly monitored, with 60 measurable parameters and public access to test results. Biofilm, which harbors pathogens like Clostridium, forms rapidly under warm, low-flow conditions, impairing nipple drinker function and compromising flock health. Images show water lines and young chickens in a facility.
