FACTSHEET DELIVERABLE 3.1: IPM Adoption and Policy Gaps in EU Member States

This factsheet is based on deliverable 3.1 of the SUPPORT project.

or

Detail description

Integrated Pest Management (IPM) adoption varies across EU member states due to policy gaps, regional disparities, and inconsistent enforcement of the Sustainable Use Directive. Findings from the EU-funded SUPPORT project reveal barriers such as weak oversight in Poland, low uptake in Romanian small farms, and mixed implementation in the Netherlands. Denmark’s pesticide taxes and precision tech drive innovation, while Spain and Greece emphasize training and market incentives. Despite a 2.7% rise in EU pesticide sales in 2021, countries like Denmark, Italy, and the Netherlands show declines due to sustainable practices. The project identifies needs for improved monitoring, education, and policy coordination, with a focus on developing a policy toolbox and strengthening stakeholder engagement.
