Photovoltaic Panel System for Agrovoltaic Applications in Murcia

Photovoltaic panel system for optimized light management in agrovoltaic horticulture

or

Detail description

This study presents a mechanical system for coplanar movement of photovoltaic panels in agrovoltaic horticultural structures in the Region of Murcia, Spain. The design, modelled in SolidWorks, uses a synchronized rack and pinion mechanism with linear actuators to regulate shade levels between 50% and 100%, optimising crop growth and energy capture. The system features 72 panels (1.3 m × 0.8 m, 30° tilt) across a 32.4 m × 25.2 m roof structure, enabling scalable, durable, and low-maintenance energy integration. Key benefits include improved luminous efficiency, reduced shading impact, and adaptability to diverse crops and climates.
