This project preserves traditional Romanian apple varieties using ecological maintenance protocols. It develops and tests comprehensive, science-based protocols for sustaining old apple trees in farmers' orchards. Through comparative trials, the project evaluates protocol effectiveness in boosting tree productivity. Farmers gain expertise in long-term orchard management and adopt proven maintenance practices. Results are published and updated quarterly on the project website from March to December 2023. Funded by the European Union, the initiative supports sustainable agriculture and knowledge exchange in rural communities.
