Enhanced Grain Production Using Biochar and Manure
Enhanced grain yield and soil fertility through biochar and manure application in animal feed production
or
Detail description
The study in Action 3.2 evaluated biochar, manure, and their combination as soil amendments in grain cultivation for animal feed. Biochar significantly improved soil morphology and yield per square meter, with a higher Harvest Index indicating better reproductive efficiency. The combined use of biochar and manure showed a strong synergistic effect. Biochar increased grain yield by 15% per hectare, equivalent to a direct economic gain of 150 €/ha. This improvement reduces the need for nitrogen fertilizers by approximately 60 kg/ha, offering both economic and environmental benefits. The results demonstrate biochar’s potential to enhance agricultural productivity and sustainability in feed grain production.
