Enhancing Carbon Sequestration in Agro-Forestry Systems

Carbon sequestration and GHG reduction through sustainable agro-forestry practices in European farms

or

Detail description

Carbon sequestration and GHG reduction through sustainable agro-forestry practices on farms in Chile and Italy. Led by UCSC with three farms and two training institutions, the project evaluates SRF poplar groves with inter-row cover cropping, conversion of arable land to perennial crops, contour strip-cropping in hilly areas, and mountain beech forest management. Results confirm environmental and economic benefits of innovative techniques like long-term biomass rotations, co-cropping in marginal lands, and high-trunk beech silviculture. Funded by the European Union and available via EU-FarmBook.
