Optimizing ammonia emissions in Parmigiano-Reggiano dairy cattle with anaerobic digestion: a holistic approach

or

Detail description

This project focuses on evaluating optimal treatment modalities for digestate management in Parmigiano-Reggiano dairy cattle equipped with anaerobic digestion plants to minimize ammonia emissions. The study includes assessing innovative practices and agronomic uses of digestate. Additionally, life cycle assessment (LCA) analysis will be conducted to determine the carbon footprint associated with milk and energy production. The expected outcomes include quantifying the reduction of ammonia and greenhouse gas emissions during storage and spreading phases of digestate, comparing solid/liquid separation treatment with manure. The project also aims to quantify the reduction in emissions achieved through good agronomic techniques in digestate application, acidification of digestate, and innovative working yard practices in digestate management.
