Mobile Andrology Laboratory for Stallion Semen Collection and Preservation

Mobile andrology lab and semen bank for Hucul and Malopolska stallions with CASA-based quality assessment and genetic profiling

or

Detail description

The project develops a mobile andrology laboratory and semen bank for Hucul and Malopolska stallions, introducing the ANDROBUS prototype for on-site, temperature-controlled semen collection and immediate quality assessment. Using CASA systems, sperm motility and morphology are analyzed, while karyotyping and DNA marker identification ensure genetic traceability. Selected samples are frozen for future mare insemination. The resulting repository combines genetic, phenotypic, and functional data to support biodiversity conservation and research. Funded by the European Union and accessible via EU-FarmBook.
