Detail description

The Bildse Aardappelweken (BAW) is a five-yearly cultural festival in Friesland, the Netherlands, celebrating potato cultivation through art, theatre, music, and exhibitions on local farms. Founded in 2008, coinciding with the UN’s Year of the Potato, BAW promotes sustainability, soil health, and circular agriculture. It features international and local artists, engages visitors via walking routes through potato fields, and is supported by the Province of Friesland, European funds, and local organisations. The festival raises awareness of agricultural heritage and modern farming practices.
