Partenariats public-population pour restaurer les forêts de chêne-liège en Tunisie

Restoring cork oak forests in Tunisia’s Ain Drahem region since 2016, a public-private partnership achieved 66% seedling survival through community co-governance, site preparation, fencing, planting, and irrigation. Local involvement enabled sustainable apiculture, with over 500 beehives established and women actively engaged. The initiative supports Tunisia’s 2015–2024 National Strategy for Sustainable Forest and Pasture Development, strengthening institutional reforms, community participation, and socio-economic resilience through newly formed rural NGOs.
