Carob and fig trees as natural firebreaks in Tunisia

Increasing the resilience of the landscape in Tunisia through the implementation of agroforestry systems featuring carob and fig trees, which act as natural firebreaks, reduce soil erosion and mitigate the risk of forest fires. The Trans-senile project, in Bizerte, promotes the restoration of burnt areas by planting around 1,100 fruit trees and 2,000 forest trees, thereby strengthening the sustainability of ecosystems in areas vulnerable to drought and increasing wildfires.
