TreesAdapt: Transformative partnership platform for tree-based adaptation
Supporting climate resilience through tree-based landscapes and agroforestry systems worldwide
or
Detail description
TreesAdapt is a transformative partnership platform supporting climate adaptation through forests, trees, and agroforestry systems in diverse landscapes. It enhances resilience in natural, rural, and urban areas while securing food, livelihoods, and soil health—especially in semi-arid regions like Churu district, Rajasthan, India, where Khejri silvipastoral systems provide critical fodder and food during dry seasons. These systems deliver essential ecosystem services for climate action, biodiversity conservation, and land restoration. With lifespans spanning centuries, trees are vital for long-term adaptation. Success depends on planting the right tree, in the right place, for the right purpose—requiring careful planning, inclusive knowledge integration (scientific, indigenous, local), and accessible, actionable information. Launched at the Global Landscape Forum in Sharm El-Sheikh on November 12, 2022, TreesAdapt supports countries, farmers, businesses, and institutions in designing and implementing effective tree-based adaptation solutions across multiple contexts. Since its launch, the platform has expanded through new partnerships and integration with global initiatives on forests, trees, agroforestry, and climate adaptation.
