Il progetto Forest Horses: gestione forestale sostenibile con equini in Penedès

The Forest Horses project promotes sustainable management of Mediterranean maritime pine forests through equine silvopasture. For four years, ten horses have grazed in a 60-hectare forest in southern Penedès, reducing wildfire risk by clearing undergrowth. Their grazing improves soil fertility, creates forest paths, and supports biodiversity. The initiative, driven by volunteers and local stakeholders, combats landscape homogenisation and raises environmental awareness in a region where vineyards and forests have been abandoned for decades.
