Forest Sharing: platform for sustainable forest management in Italy

A digital platform for sustainable forest management and aggregation of small forest holdings across Italy

or

Detail description

Forest Sharing is a digital platform by Bluebiloba, a University of Florence spin-off, supporting small forest owners across Italy to combat land abandonment and fragmentation. Launched in 2020, it enables collaborative, sustainable forest management through web-GIS technology, aggregating small and medium parcels for improved silvicultural practices. The platform enhances ecosystem services, promotes climate change mitigation, and supports the entire forest-to-wood value chain. It connects forest owners, experts, public administrations, and industries in a shared, landscape-oriented approach to sustainable forest management. With 850 owners managing 23,000 hectares nationwide, including a pilot in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Forest Sharing offers a scalable, digital solution for multifunctional forest stewardship.
