Agricultural land banks in Catalonia to connect entrepreneurs and landowners

The land bank in Catalonia connects agricultural entrepreneurs with landowners to promote sustainable land use, prevent land abandonment and reduce the risk of forest fires. In 2024, the network of 12 land banks across 134 municipalities, coordinated by the Barcelona Provincial Council, offers a digital platform for managing plots, landowners and applicants, facilitating the transfer of land – particularly abandoned land – to promote sustainable agriculture.
