Improving Lithuanian Cattle and Sheep Breeding with Biotechnologies

Enhancing Lithuanian cattle and sheep breeding through advanced biotechnologies and genetic improvement

or

Detail description

This project enhances pedigree cattle and sheep breeding in Lithuania using advanced biotechnologies, including in vitro embryo production, oestrus synchronization, and artificial insemination. It aims to increase pedigree calf numbers by 10% annually in beef and dairy cattle and by 7% in sheep, supporting herd regeneration and improved productivity. The initiative addresses declining dairy herds and growing beef and meat sheep populations, with a target of raising pedigree proportions to 10%. Funded by the European Union and accessible via EU-FarmBook.
