Systematic hoof health data recording in Baden-Württemberg

The KlaueNCHECK-BW project systematically collects hoof health data in Baden-Württemberg's dairy farms through standardized documentation by professional hoof trimmers. This data supports genetic improvement, herd management, and breeding value estimation, reducing premature culling and economic losses. Findings are stored in databases and made available via online tools for farmers, veterinarians, and advisors. The initiative, active from 2016 to 2019, is led by LKLV BW and supported by key agricultural and breeding organizations.
