Balanced forage strategies for climate-resilient livestock in Rocamadour
Enhancing forage diversity and resilience in AOP Rocamadour farming systems
or
Detail description
Farmers in the AOP Rocamadour region, including Lilian Gouraud and Benoît Cournéde, adopted diversified forage systems to improve feed quality, reduce concentrate use, and enhance climate resilience. Gouraud increased legume content to 70% with a PME mix, harvesting at optimal stages for yield and digestibility. Cournéde used dual-purpose grasses on rocky, dry soils, combining cereals and legumes for energy-rich feed, harvesting as silage, dried forage, or grain based on conditions. Both strategies boosted forage autonomy and livestock performance.
