Ration balance for AOP Rocamadour goat herd
Enhancing feed autonomy and sustainability in AOP Rocamadour goat farming through diversified forage systems and strategic crop rotation
or
Detail description
The project in Aveyron improves feed ration energy quality for 200 goats producing AOP Rocamadour cheese. It enhances feed autonomy through dual-purpose oats, sainfoin, and multi-species cover crops on a 54-hectare farm. Solutions address lucerne over-reliance and autotoxicity, achieving 85% rough forage autonomy by 2021. Sainfoin boosts milk protein and fat balance. Extended lactations and adjusted kidding seasons support year-round production. Co-financed by the European Agricultural Fund and Occitanie region.
