Increase legume proportion and practice silage baling for feed autonomy
Seasonal organic milk production with enhanced feed autonomy and improved milk quality
or
Detail description
The 234-hectare organic goat farm in Haute-Garonne, France, at 1200 m altitude, raises 240 milk-producing goats. From 2018 to 2021, it improved feed autonomy to 66% (74% forage) via rotational grazing, legume cultivation, and soil and manure analysis. Milk yield per goat stayed stable at 753–755 L, quality improved (proteins: 32.4→34.1 g/L), and concentrate use dropped by 24%. The farm adopted seasonal organic milk production with natural kidding.
