Appvid: managing vine diseases using a computer application

The aim was to develop a computer application to manage the health status of the vineyard, which would advise producers and assist them in decision-making regarding the control of downy mildew, powdery mildew and botrytis, by (1) determining the optimal time for applying phytosanitary treatments to control the disease; (2) reducing the number of applications through the integration of vineyard data from sensors, observations and farm records; (3) increasing the effectiveness of disease control by developing a computer application that reports on the vineyard’s health status in real time and also provides recommendations on which product to use.
