Cork Oak Stand Vitality Monitoring Using Satellite and Drone Data

Monitors cork oak vitality using satellite and drone data for accurate mapping and field application

or

Detail description

The Geosuber Tool monitors cork oak vitality in Portugal using satellite and drone imagery, detecting dead trees with 70–85% accuracy. It supports landowners in bureaucratic processes for cutting protected trees and enables mobile field use. The tool also analyzes phenological patterns, confirming that secondary growth begins with leaf blossoming, driven by temperature accumulation and water availability, with cork cambium activity aligning with vascular cambium. Data from 24 drone flights, 12 satellite images, and field plots inform validated vegetation index models.
