Improving synthetic cable life with steel-reinforced ends

Synthetic-steel cable bond to extend service life in timber harvesting

or

Detail description

Synthetic cable adoption in Catalonia's timber harvesting remains low due to high cost and rapid abrasion, especially in the final meters. This project proposes a synthetic-steel bond in these high-wear zones to extend cable lifespan. By concentrating steel where abrasion occurs, the solution aims to improve durability, compatibility with existing machinery, and overall viability. Led by BOSCAT within the FOREST4EU project and MUCAS innovation group, the initiative focuses on developing robust bonding techniques to enhance performance and promote industry adoption.
