Ficha GO VISENS: Sensor integration in Catalan wineries for real-time fermentation monitoring

Real-time fermentation and aging monitoring in Catalan wineries using advanced sensor technology

or

Detail description

The VISENS project integrates advanced sensor technology into Catalan wineries to enable real-time monitoring of fermentation and aging processes. Funded with €131,080.87 from DACC, the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development, and self-financing, it focuses on developing micro and nano sensors for detecting *Brettanomyces bruxelensis* and SO₂ levels. Activities include testing electrical potential difference sensors and embedding sensors into smart barrels. The initiative, led by CELLEL LA VINYETA SL, ASSOCIACIÓ AEI INNOVI, and CSIC, aims to reduce labor costs, minimise chemical use, and support Industry 4.0 digitalisation in winemaking. Technical training and knowledge transfer to the sector are central. Outcomes include market-ready monitoring devices, reduced sampling costs, and improved understanding of fermentation variables. Project execution concluded in September 2022.
