Beef Female's Profit Potential Tool

A decision-support tool that estimates the lifetime profit potential of beef heifers and cows using integrated performance data across key traits such as calving age, calving difficulty, weaning weight, carcass weight, and feed intake. The tool calculates a euro-based value combining heifer potential, current parity contribution, expected future productivity, and retention value. Validated on 21,102 Irish beef females, it helps producers identify under-performing animals for voluntary culling and select high-potential replacements. The framework supports on-farm decision-making by simplifying complex data into a single actionable metric and is adaptable to new data sources and other species or environments.
