Setting up exchange groups between farmers

The BroilerNet project involves a bottom-up approach to identify challenges and innovation needs for broiler farmers in Europe and to collect promising and already successfully implemented Good Practices to meet the challenges in question. The top Good Practices selected by experts within the three thematic areas (animal health management, animal welfare, and sustainability) have been summarized in factsheets. Setting up exchange groups between poultry farmers is among the best practices identified by the French BroilerNet network in response to the challenge of training farmers/workers to improve animal welfare. Indeed, these groups take the form of networks where farmers can share their knowledge, experiences, and best practices, thus fostering a culture of collaboration and mutual learning through training, which can notably contribute to enhancing animal welfare. This practical guide presents an example of setting up and operating a group of poultry farmers in Finistère, outlining its access conditions and the benefits of joining.
