Detection and eradication of bitter almonds in Spanish almond production. Project launched in 2016 under the Rural Development Programme (PDR), led by SAB - Almendrave, with partners Aeofruse, Descalendra, Arboreto SAT, Borges Agricultural & Industrial Nuts, Crisol de Frutos Secos SAT, Mañán Soc. Cooperativa, and Uníó Nuts. Focus on scalable systems for detection and removal at field, central reception, and processing line levels. Develops geolocation of bitter almond trees, discriminative lab models, and prototype technologies for individual almond detection. Aims to prevent batch rejections, protect sector reputation, and enhance competitiveness in the agri-food chain. Contact: almendrave@almendrave.com.
