Farmwell Care Farm for Disability Inclusion Poland

Independently, Not Alone: A care farm empowering adults with intellectual disabilities through agriculture and community support

Detail description

In Tuchola County, Poland, the 'Independently, Not Alone' care farm supports adults with intellectual disabilities through therapeutic agricultural activities. Spanning 19 hectares with 13 hectares of forest, the farm fosters mental and physical wellbeing, life skills development, and social inclusion. Participants care for geese and engage in daily farm tasks, while the initiative also operates a social enterprise employing individuals with disabilities. Launched in December 2021, the project enhances rural resilience, strengthens community support, and offers a replicable model for care farming. Supported by local institutions and private partners, it demonstrates how farmer-led initiatives can improve public services and generate sustainable income. The FarmWell Project provides toolkits to scale such models.
