Wireless Sensor Network Coverage in Mixed Crop Farms

Wireless sensor networks in mixed crop environments require tailored models due to non-uniform signal attenuation. This study validates a log-linear vegetation attenuation model specific to mixed crops, demonstrating heterogeneous, asymmetric channel behavior. A cluster-based deployment with dual antenna heights and adaptive energy models extends network lifetime by over 20x compared to standard configurations, improving reliability and efficiency in agricultural monitoring.
