Pest monitoring using chemical lures
Chemical lures for early pest detection in vegetable crops across Europe
or
Detail description
Chemical lures, including pheromones and allelochemicals, are critical for effective pest monitoring in vegetable crops. This technical guide from the SmartProtect IPM network details the use of pheromone traps with rubber septa, hollow fibers, and polyethylene vials to mimic natural pheromone release. Designed for early detection in tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, lettuce, alliums, and cabbages, these tools enhance trap efficiency and reduce non-target catch. Developed under the EU’s Horizon 2020 programme (grant No. 862563), the document offers practical deployment guidance and supports sustainable pest management across Europe.
