Insect Monitoring for Preventive Pest Control in Vegetables

Monitoring insects for early pest detection in European vegetable crops

or

Detail description

Insect monitoring using chromotropic plates, traps, and sexual confusion diffusers supports early pest detection and prevention in European vegetable crops. The project, funded by Horizon 2020 (grant No. 862563) and Fundación Cajamar, evaluates tools like PHEROCON, STORGARD, TRAPVIEW (solar-powered with real-time imaging), and SNAPTRAP. Target crops include tomatoes, cucumbers, bell peppers, lettuce, alliums, and cabbages in open fields and greenhouses. TRAPVIEW enables secure, centralised data processing and predictive analytics. Completed in 2021, the initiative promotes knowledge sharing under a Creative Commons BY licence, with resources available at smartprotect-h2020.eu.
