Smart Trap Solutions by SMAPPLAB enhances integrated pest management in European vegetable production using camera-equipped, sensor-enabled traps. The system provides real-time pest counts, species identification, and weather data, transmitting information to a personalised online dashboard. Designed for tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, lettuce, alliums, cabbages, and maize in open fields and greenhouses, it supports timely, data-driven decisions to reduce pesticide use and improve yields. The system operates continuously with self-cleaning functionality and is scalable across Europe. Funded by Horizon 2020 (grant No. 862563), the project concluded in 2023 and is accessible at smartprotect-h2020.eu under CC-BY. Key features include automated monitoring, environmental sensing, and real-time analytics.
