SmartProtect: Advancing SMART IPM for European Vegetable Crops

Advancing sustainable pest management in European vegetable crops through technology-driven IPM solutions

or

Detail description

Modern Integrated Pest Management (IPM) systems in European vegetable production integrate technology-driven solutions to reduce chemical pesticide use, enhance crop resilience, and improve economic and environmental outcomes. The SmartProtect project (EU Horizon 2020, grant No. 862563) developed predictive tools, monitoring systems, and multi-actor platforms for crops including tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, lettuce, alliums, and cabbages in open fields and greenhouses. Focused on prevention, early detection, and targeted control, the initiative promotes ecological and biological methods to minimise environmental impact and support sustainable productivity.
