Low-Intensity PG in Marginal Climate, Mostly Grazed (LM_G)

or

Detail description

This type is managed at low intensity, and herbage is mostly harvested by cutting rather than grazing. It is found in regions where grass growth is limited by long winters or extended summer drought, and is most frequent in the Alps, the Baltic states and the Pannonian and eastern Continental biogeographic regions. In these regions, it often occurs at less productive sites with obstacles to intensification, such as very shallow or wet soils, steep slopes, or a greater distance from the farm.
