LED for Plants: Optimizing Greenhouse Cultivation with Spectral Lighting
Enhancing greenhouse cultivation with tailored LED lighting for herbs and ornamental plants
Detail description
LED for Plants project develops energy-efficient LED lighting that replicates natural sunlight (350–780 nm) for greenhouse cultivation. It enables compact growth and earlier flowering in ornamental plants like poinsettias through targeted infrared spectra. For herbs such as basil, thyme, and peppermint, ultraviolet light boosts essential oil production, enhancing flavor and quality. The technology, developed in Berlin with local suppliers, improves yield, reduces energy use, and decreases reliance on plant protection products.
