Detail description
This project enhances biogas installation performance through farmer-led knowledge exchange and technical problem-solving. Building on Pocketboer I, it addresses design flaws, feedstock instability, and administrative hurdles like subsidy applications. Of 63 active installations, 10 were underperforming; 53 operators joined the knowledge network. Key actions include digestion testing, cost-benefit analyses, and resolving 13 of 18 prior subsidy dossiers (72% success rate). Workshops, a Facebook group, and site visits improve communication. The Pocket Power subsidy initiative supports new operators with a feasibility brochure. Deliverables from Pocketboer I—FAQs and 'Tips & Tricks'—remain essential. An evaluation in December 2019 shows cautious optimism, with pilot solutions and ongoing refinements. The project operates through three pillars: knowledge sharing, technical troubleshooting, and administrative support, with biannual stakeholder meetings and ad hoc discussions. Farmers guide the project’s direction, ensuring practical relevance. Persistent challenges in subsidies and technical adjustments are being addressed through sustained collaboration.
