How can EU farms contribute to Climate Neutrality?
A holistic approach to climate neutrality that integrates greenhouse gas mitigation, carbon sequestration, climate resilience, biodiversity, soil health and resource management.
Detaillierte Beschreibung
This policy brief presents the ClieNFarms perspective on how European agriculture can contribute to climate neutrality while strengthening farm resilience.
The document argues that climate neutrality should not be limited to balancing greenhouse gas emissions and carbon removals. A holistic approach is required, considering interactions between greenhouse gas emissions, carbon sequestration, biogeophysical effects, biodiversity, soil health, nutrient cycling, water management and low-carbon energy systems.
The brief highlights the importance of policy frameworks that support systemic and locally adapted solutions, reward farmers for climate-positive practices and strengthen climate resilience. It also emphasises that food security, biodiversity conservation and long-term farm viability must be considered alongside climate goals.
