Het besef dat er maar liefst 4 liter drinkwater nodig is voor de productie van 1 liter melk benadrukt de urgentie om watermanagement serieus te nemen. “Niet alleen varieert de behoefte aan water met de omgevingstemperatuur, maar ook de snelheid waarmee een koe drinkt en de tijd van de dag zijn van invloed. Een koe kan bijvoorbeeld tot wel 20 liter water per minuut opnemen, wat de keuze voor het type waterbak beïnvloedt”, benoemt Leonie de Jongh – Vernooij, projectaccountmanager bij DLV Advies.
