Detaljeret beskrivelse

Polyphenols are bioactive plant micro-constituents found abundantly in foods and exhibit a wide range of health-promoting properties. This article highlights the key role of maintaining vascular integrity in preventing age-related chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and cognitive decline. It reviews the nutritional importance of polyphenols for vascular protection, addresses current study limitations, and proposes strategic research approaches. Original INRA research is presented, detailing clinical, animal, and in vitro evidence on how citrus polyphenols confer vascular protection and the underlying mechanisms of action.
