Analyzing and Estimating N₂O Emissions in French Arable Cropping Systems

This study reports on the NO GAS project, which established a network of ten experimental sites across France to quantify N₂O emissions under varying pedoclimatic conditions and cropping practices, and to improve emission estimation methods and model calibration.

Detaljeret beskrivelse

The NO GAS project implemented a national experimental network during the 2010–11 and 2011–12 seasons to gather reference data on nitrous oxide emissions from major French arable systems. Ten sites covering diverse soil types and climates were monitored for the impacts of tillage, drainage, nitrogen fertilization, soil pH, and climate on annual N₂O fluxes. Data were integrated into a shared database and used to test and refine direct-emission modules of three models (STICS, CERS-EGC, Syst’N). These measurements support the development of a more accurate Tier II estimation method in collaboration with CITEPA.
