Detaljan opis

The study reviews the development and commercialization of a trichogramma-based biocontrol method against European corn borer in maize, born from an INRA–BIOTOP collaboration since 1975. It describes how equivalent efficacy to chemical treatments was achieved at competitive cost through careful candidate selection, optimized rearing, precise storage and hatching control, and protective packaging. Launched after a decade of trials, the product’s adoption was supported by continuous improvement processes and farmer services, simplifying application and ensuring supply security. The experience highlights critical steps for scaling new biocontrol solutions in large-scale cropping systems.
