Understanding farmer dependence on different income streams and how this influences behaviour and the delivery of ecosystem services associated with permanent grasslands
Permanent grasslands (PG) are at risk of loss or degradation due to agricultural land use and land management changes. Assessing which policies optimise PG conditions across different climatic and sociocultural regions in Europe is challenging. Policy development requires an assessment of the main economic influences on farmers in relation to maintaining and managing PG systems, across different contexts, as well as their impact on risks and opportunities for delivery of Ecosystem Services (ES).

NANOCELLULOSE MEMBRANES FOR NUTRIENT RECOVERY
This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program under Grant Agreement No 858735This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program under Grant Agreement No 858735. FACTSHEET NANOCELLULOSE MEMBRANES FOR NUTRIENT RECOVERY Key information Functionalized nanocellulose membranes can take up nitrate and phosphate. These membranes can be put in a water treatment unit. As the membranes are biobased, degradable materials, they can after use be added to the soil, thus returning the leached nutrients back for their original purpose providing fertilizers (nutrient recycling).
