Detail description

In response to challenges of maintaining high biosecurity and animal welfare in broiler chicken production, the LIT OUESTEREL association organised three co-creation workshops with 14 poultry sector stakeholders. Over sixty proposed solutions led to three innovative outdoor run concepts. The study evaluated investment costs (ranging from €10 to €475 per m²), conducted a multi-criteria assessment by nine experts, and analysed societal acceptance among 29 citizens. Results highlighted the strengths and limitations of each concept, offering a promising approach to limit indoor confinement practices while complying with regulations and reducing the risk of HPAI transmission.
