Mitigation Strategies at Landscape Scale: The ClimAgri® Tool and Participatory Approach

Reducing greenhouse gas emissions in agriculture and forestry is crucial to meet national targets. This study presents the ClimAgri® tool and its participatory framework to assess energy use and emissions at landscape scale and to facilitate the development of concrete mitigation actions with local actors.

Detail description

The document introduces ClimAgri®, a diagnostic computer tool spearheaded by ADEME to evaluate energy consumption and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from agricultural and forestry activities at the territorial scale. Based on a life cycle approach, it integrates input impacts and the feeding potential of the study area. Alongside the tool, a participatory process mobilizes local stakeholders—farmers, policymakers, and community groups—to co-construct and implement targeted mitigation actions. The project coordinator ensures technical consistency through data collection, simulations, and alignment with existing environmental programs. ClimAgri® thus promotes the adoption of best agricultural and forestry practices tailored to diverse local contexts.
