Detail description

<p after a brief reminder of concepts relating to biodiversity, this article presents issues concerning urban ecology. Although nature has never truly been absent from cities, the current shift—partly in response to urban sprawl—is the increasing integration of nature into the representations and designs of urban dwellers, managers, decision-makers, and scientists. This leads to a broader consideration of the range of services provided by urban ecosystems, including recreational uses. However, agricultural activities are rarely explicitly integrated into research on biodiversity in urban areas. These approaches are linked to the numerous scientific studies on the relationship between biodiversity and agriculture, in order to identify the ecological challenges related to agriculture in peri-urban areas.
